What is the best diet for my 87 years old mother to keep her strong and alert? Weight :54 kgs, Ht: 5'1" No Cholesterol problem. Well controlled mild diabetes 1/2 Istamet (50/500) Amloz 5 mg thyronorm 25 since 15 yrs. Current diet: Breakfast: 1 egg, 100 ml tomato beetroot soup, Lunch, Dinner: 1/2 potato 1 Waati (100 ml) ground vegetable (any) each , Snack : Elchi-kela 2 x 3 times or mango, papaya when in season . Soup 2-3 times a day 1 slice toast 2 times a day with tea. Once a week chicken soup/ pureed. She needs strength , alertness . What would you recommend?

Few tips on diet - say no to maida items like toast, khaari, naan, white bread. Can drink tea but without sugar say no to buffalo milk and can drink cows milk can eat brown bread can eat sprout's can eat green vegetables, can eat chappati, bajra ka rotla can eat one katori of rice twice a day with dal to avoid farsan food items can eat fruits say no to coconut water.

Dear lybrateuser, -For breakfast with an egg give her whole wheat bread & a cup of milk with 1teaspoon proteinex -give her vegetables more of green leafy one katori, curd, one chapatti for lunch, a piece of chicken or fish if non-veg, give green tea if she likes as it is more beneficial 1-2 cups a day, dinner can give soup, salad one katori,beans, legumes,paneer( can have any one) -give more of citrus fruits in place of banana & mango as she is diabetic.
