My roommates say I make crying and groaning sounds during sleep. This has started from the past 5-6 months. I am stressed due to some reason from the past few months. I even get up very scared in the morning with a feeling of guilt and hopelessness. What may be the reason for the sounds I make while sleeping?

All the things that you are reporting clearly point towards a stress related psychiatric problem. It might be an adjustment disorder or a depressive episode. Share your concern with friends and family, lighten your burden, do not decrease involvement in your hobbies or pleasurable activities even if you feel tired or hopeless; do not decrease food and drink. Try to sleep and wake up in a fixed pattern. Increase contact with friends and family even though you may not feel like talking. If condition still persists, consult a psychiatrist.
