Hi, low-lying placenta, or placenta praevia, is a complication of pregnancy where the placenta that feeds the growing baby is attached to the lower part of the womb near to or covering the cervix. Low-lying placenta may be picked up during a routine 20-week ultrasound scan appointment. In some cases, a placenta that is seen to be low-lying will move upwards later in pregnancy. Your care will vary depending on whether or not you've had any bleeding. You may be advised to avoid having sex for the rest of your pregnancy, particularly if you've had bleeding. If you remain free of complications, you're likely to be offered a planned caesarean after 38 weeks. If you have major placenta praevia, or have had bleeding, you may be admitted to hospital when you're 34 weeks pregnant. If you've had no bleeding, you'll probably be able to stay at home. ***************you can consult a gynaecologist for cross-checking************
