Diabetic patients will have a slight amount of proteinuria as the kidney gets damaged due to long standing diabetes. Get her fasting sugar levels and hba1c done. Control the diabetes and her proteinuria will decrease.

Lybrate-user, if diabetes is not well controlled it leads to first microalbuminuria and later albumin uria (protein uria). Hence primary need is to get blood sugar in excellent control. Then only there is a possibility to reduce protein uria. Plus proper diet control and if she has high blood pressure, that also needs to be controlled effectively. Thanks.
