My wife 28 years old had been going for her Braces treatment from Orthodontist since last more than a year! The doctor has said it is not required to extract the teeth and we continued the treatment in home town M. P. Now we have shifted to Hyderabad and whn consulted the doctors we got different opinion. One says 4 teeth needs to be removed, other says no extraction is required, another says only one tooth needs to be removed. Now we are so confused as what to do and which doctor is correct. We have already given almost one and half for the treatment and paid almost the full amount. Again if we have to go thru entire year then its really frustrating. As we are new to Hyderabad we hardly know any good doctor (for me a good doctor is not who is more qualified and has more degrees rather the one who is not money minded and can give the right suggestion based on his experience). Please guide us.

I can understand the confusion, first of all I am telling the reason of the problem before starting orthodontic treatment your dentist has to do some assessment in which he measures the total space available in your jaw and the total space required for the teeth to be in accurate place case 1) sufficient space available- no extraction needed case 2) sufficient space absent or less- extraction needed sometimes available space is little less than available space in these kind of borderline cases dentist trims some of the teeth to create that space but some dentist extract teeth and prevent damaging of many teeth I am sure your problem is borderline case that's why different doctor has different opinion my suggestion in this type of the situation is you must visit a doctor with degree of mds in orthodontics and explain your situation and ask the same question then I am sure you will get the definite answer and if you don't want the extraction done then ask your dentist that is it possible to do the ortho. Correction without extraction please right me back, I want to know what happened next.

Hi, usually, the number to tooth required for extraction depends on how much other teeth need to be moved in the jaw and the size of the jaw. It usually differs from patient to patient. If you have lot of crowding of teeth and you have small jaw then you may need to extract 4 teeth, but if there is sufficient space for the movement of the teeth, then there is no need for any extraction. I will be able to give you better advice if you can share your treatment history with me along with some picture and x rays. Hope you found this helpful.
