It depends on what kind of thyroid problem patient is suffering from? thyroiditis is usually a self-limiting problem. Autoimmune hypothyroid problems are usually not curable. They need to be on thyroxine supplementation for life long. Graves disease can be successfully cured with radioiodine ablation or surgery.
