Hello lybrate-user, there is no strict rules after extraction of the tooth. Technically after the extraction of the tooth the dentist would have given you a gauze pack to bite on for 30 mins. This is given just to make sure that the blood clott forming in the area will not get dislodged. Blood clott literally protects the extraction wound so it needs to stay in place. So understanding this you need to be just a bit careful for the first 24 hours. You can eat and drink anything except hard and chewy food, which can cause this protective clott to come out of the socket. So go gentle on chewy foods for the first 24 hours.
