Is it compulsory to do crowning after rct?

Hi, to do a crown or not depends on how much tooth is destoryed. If it is a front tooth, composite restoration can be done and crown avoided. But in most of the molar teeth, crown should be made after rct.

Dear yes it is compulsory to give a crown after undergoing root canal treatment of that particular tooth. After the root canal treatment tooth becomes like a brittle glass. It can break under pressure. Crown on the top provides additional strength to the teeth so that it can last longer. If you do not put a crown after rct your tooth might break under pressure depending on the amount of tooth loss due to decay and if it breaks the whole purpose of doing rct goes in vain. Many a times if the decay is very minimal and the rct is done for some other reason you can avoid a crown but I would advice it's always better to put a crown after rct. It increases your tooth life and protects it from further damage.
