What they say is true but you could additionally inculcate some practices suggested here. Time will eventually heal the problem with some commitment and patience. Have him read some of his school material but instead of making him merely articulate the words have his sing the statements he is supposed to actually read. Let him do the following exercises everyday as often as he can for at least 6 months: ask him to forcefully press his tongue against his lips and move it in a circular manner clockwise and anticlockwise. This is tiring but is very effective. Then have him form an ?O? with his lips and quickly jerk it back into an ?E? with the lips fully stretched towards the back, as though it has been pulled back by hooks on both sides. Then let him resonate the vowels A, E, I, O, U like he was singing it out loud and drawn out. Let him drop his lower jaw and swing it sideways like a lose jaw. Finally please check out his level of fear. This also a nervous habit stemming from some fear, perhaps from his early childhood. He must be able to express that and as the level of fear dissipates, you will see a remarkable change and transformation. Good luck.
