My 5 year daughter underwent a sonography today since she was having slight stomach pain every 15-20 days for 1-2 days (which used to get resolved by taking medicines). The sonography says there is slight inflammation on the appendix. I am worried - is this treatable by medicines or will it require surgery?

Hello. It is understandable that you are worried about your little girl! however all types of appendicitis need not be treated with surgery. Medical treatment is given first, failing which the appendix needs to be surgically removed. But make sure you are under the care of a good surgeon who will know when do perform the surgery. Include a lot of fiber in her diet so that she is not constipated. Hope this helps.
