Mr. Lybrate-user, any age person can control raised blood sugar, or diabetes provided he/she takes appropriate medicine, observes dietary control and does regular physical exercise. Precautions in general include taking prescribed drugs regularly, avoiding sweets, sugar and gur, deep fried foods, junk foods, pastries, high fat milk products, sweetened aerated drinks and highly processed foods. Consumes a good deal of green leafy vegetables, salads and permitted fruits (100 g a day). Avoids alcohol and smoking. Does regular physical exercise of at least 1 hour a day. In other words follows a modified lifestyle. Regards.
