Taking into account the risk benefit ratio, just continue breast feeding. Wait for 1 week for your symptoms to resolve, if it is simple viral fever. Hello Mr. Lybrate-user. Your wife can continue breastfeeding the baby. It is not advisable to take medicines though, as the drug may be secreted in the breast milk. But your wife can try taking steam inhalation at home at least 3-4 times per day for a couple of days and if fever persists, consult an obstetrician for a suitable antibiotic to prevent the child from getting the cold as well.
