Abortion cannot be done by anyone, unless that person is qualified, and is working in a center that is registered by the government and has the skills to handle the complications too. Gynecs and mbbs doctors (who have received training) only can prescribe abortion pills. These pills are not available over the counter in medicine stores, but they have to be bought from the gynecs or trained registered doctors. So I would suggest you to go to a nearby gynecologist and seek the abortion. The gynec will examine you, and then decide whether your case is fit to be done with pills. There are 2 methods of abortion: medical method: where the gynecologist administers pills if the pregnancy is withing 60 days of the last menstrual period. Here some gynecs also ask for a sonography to see the intrauterine situation of the sac and its gestational age. Then pills are given to be consumed in front of the doctor. After this patient is called on d3 and again given another set of pills, following which the patient starts having a heavy period like bleeding and this bleeding may last for a few days to week. 15 days after the pill, the gynec usually ask for a sonography, to look for completion of the abortion. If the abortion has not happened (as is the case in some) or it is incomplete, surgical abortion needs to be done. Surgical abortion: this is done usually under general anesthesia, or local anesthesis. Here patient is called on an emtpy stomach for admission with her husband or legal major guardian, and then the procedure is done, where in the mouth of the uterus is opened and the contents of the uterus are evacuated. This procedure lasts 10 minutes and is usually complete. Here the patient can go home 6 hrs after the abortion with some antibiotics. So visit the gynec.
