Sometimes when I take a sudden deep breath my left side of the chest near the cardiac region starts paining. I don't know why but the pain is very sharp and persist for few secs to minutes.

Hi there. Mostly according to your symptoms it looks like muscular pain. But chest pain which increases on taking deep breath or on coughing and sneezing warrants a chest x ray as symptoms suggest pleuritic chest pain (pain due to lung conditions) to rule out any lung conditions. But it is certainly not due to heart problem. Please upload your xray if needed and may be I cud help you with that. If severe please see a physician. Take care.
