My Son is 2.5 years old. He is fine as regards to health. He has a very good intellectual capabilities, he can remember the names of all my family members, can easily recite the stories that I tell him and can also talk in a fluent manner. He also can also identify the pictures in his study book. But as and when he is growing old he is getting scared of even the things that he used to enjoy earlier like riding a swing, or he gets too much scared of the balloon or crackers. He use to hang his breath when he was less than 1.5 years, but now he has no such problem. I just want to know how I tackle this problem, I create stories where he enjoys blowing of balloons or riding swings or blowing crackers. He enjoys them. But he is still too scared of things. Me and my also use to be scared of things when we were kids. So just need idea how to tackle this.

Dear lybrate-user. Children are social creatures. They always associate things with something else which gives them scare. Here, he is afraid of sound may be because he associated the sound with some other painful or worrying experience. You have to remove that association. Stories will not help. Tip- blow a balloon or cracker and immediately offer something which the child likes. Repeat the exercise many times. Now the child will associate the noise with something pleasurable and he will not be scared. You can experiment with other things also in the same way. But before that I advise you to speak to me, regarding the swings, the child is scared because of the balance problem created by the eustachian tube. It will take time, but the child will get used to it. Don't worry. Take care.
