Mr. Lybrate-user, in hyperthyroidism heart rate goes up, also there may be palpitation. In hypothyroidism there is slower heart rate. Hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism both have different symptoms. So please clarify which particular disease are you referring. Precautions are again different. However, it is good to use iodinated salt, exercise regularly and check thyroid homone levels periodically.
