See sir, ear ache is mostly related to the active conductive component which is mostly arise due to the cold & cough. If you've frequent upper respiretery tract infection the it lead to the conductive hearing loss bcoz this infection affected to the middle ear. So yes the childhood earache may cause of hearing loss & its gradually progressive. So initially due to mild loss you dint observed hearing difficulty but later due to sevarity you felt problem arising in hearing so solution is keep ear dry, do not be pour any oil or water & mostly away from cough & cold.
