My 4 year old son has accumulated wax in both ears. I consulted two doctors and both advised ear drops and said the wax will come out by itself. I wanted to know if extracting wax through vacuum or water spray is not recommended for small kids? What should I do. Please suggest.

First soften the wax in both the ears by putting wax softening ear drops three times a day for 7/10 days. Then the ear can be syringed by an ent surgeon. The wax will easily come out. If the ear is syringed by an expert there is no age factor as far the safety of the patient is concerned. Please do not go to any doctor to get the ear wax removed. It should be done only by an ent surgeon.

No we should not put water or anything else in ear as more harmful. If child is getting ear pain or irritation then just ear drops as advised till paediatrician says no infection.
