You should take Thyronorm 25mcg Tablet as long as your doctor has recommended. Usually, it is prescribed for the long term and you may have to take it lifelong. Do not stop taking the medicine, as your symptoms of low levels of thyroid hormone may reoccur.

Hello, thanks for the query. Madam, I am sure the doctor who advised you to take levothyroxine, must have also talked about how long the treatment needs to be continued. Hypothyroidism (no information on t3, t4 & tsh is given), is a hormone (thyroxine) deficiency disorder. In this condition your thyroid gland is not producing adequate amount of that hormone. Since it is required for day to day functioning all the metabolic activities plus normal functioning of brain, it has to be supplemented from outside. Therefore, the treatment is for lifetime. Please let me know what you mean by "cyst" where is it? Is it present in thyroid gland? Thanks.

Can you let us know what the initial tsh was and if tpo antibodies were checked or not. If you have high levels (titres) of tpo antibodies you may have to continue thyroxine long-term
