is a septicaemic and prolonged febrile state commonly caused by salmonella typhi and uncommonly s, paratyphi a, b and c. It is a faeco-oral disease. The incubation period varies from 3-10 days on an average. The symptoms of typhoid
are as follows:
- prolonged pyrexia, usually remittent
- abdominal distension
followed by loose motions
- dry coated tongue
- enlargement of liver and spleen. The duration of the illness is usually about four weeks but may remain for eight weeks or more if untreated.
