Hello doctor, my father who is 73 years old going through a strange problem. When he falls asleep he feels after sometime that his lower limbs below the knee are paralyzed then he wakes up and massage them and move in the room for a while. Whenever he tries to sleep it happens for last two months. Sometime 3-4 times in night and sometime fewer. He has problematic knees but he manages to walk and this problem occurs only when he sleeps. He is borderline diabetic, takes tenoric 50 for blood pressure. Regards.

Hello, 1. Though your father does not have classic sleep paralysis, the paralyses of lower limbs in isolation appears to be a parasomnia. You can try sleeping on the sides and not sleep flat and raised hed and shoulders. /'have regular sleeping hours.
