Most likely you are having allergic cough and allergic rhinitis. Allergic cough is a variant of asthma. It is partly genetic and cannot be fully prevented. The mildest form is like your symptoms. It can get worse also. So avoid all types of dust. Wear a face mask when you clean the room. Do not smoke. Since it is very infrequent you should consult your doctor during your symptoms and check whether you have asthma. Running nose is due to allergic rhinitis. You will also have blocked nose or running nose. Both your nose problem and cough problem are two sides of the same allergic disease.
