Depends on what your diagnosis is. It's quite unusual to start thyroxine for a borderline tsh unless you have marked weakness and other symptoms consistent with hypothyroidism. A few more tests need to be done and a careful history has to be taken.

lybrate-user ji, thanks for the query. I have seen the details. Madam usually when tsh is between 6 to 9.9 mu/l or above the normal upper limit to to 9.9 mu/l, that is considered as sub-clinical hypothyroidism. In that condition unless a patient has some troublesome symptoms of that disorder, no treatment is advised. So I am a bit surprised that for you treatment was given with tsh 4.5 mu/l. Was the anti tpo antibody test done? In any case you have taken the treatment and now the tsh level is normal, you may just stop the treatment for a few weeks and check thyroid function again. Because once hypothyroidism is diagnosed then the treatment is usually for lifetime. Did you have any symptoms earlier? If you have any questions please do come back another aspect to be remembered is that if a woman wants to have a pregnancy, then tsh needs to be maintained < 2.5 mu/l. Thanks.
