Greying of hair was a sign of wisdom in the past. But today, looking younger even in your 40's is the norm. Hair has a vital role in making the personality of a person. Greying has many reasons e. G. Stress, heredity, certain disease conditions, medications etc. Lets us first understand why hair looks black. Hair root has pigment (melanin) producing cells called malenocytes. This melanin presence gives hair its black colour. When melanocytes do not produce melanin due to any reason the hair turns grey (white). Once the hair has lost its ability to produce melanin it cannot be corrected. But newer molecules like melitane, paba etc have helped in some patients but in early age. Adults with long standing grey hair do not seem to respond that well to such treatments. External hair colouring agents like hair dyes, hair colours are semi permanent and can be used safely after doing the patch testing. Those who are allergic to such colouring agents can use herbal products. One must remember that some so called natural products if they contain ppd (paraphenylene di amine) can give rise to allergy. Please check if it is suitable to your skin and then enjoy the young look. In addition take some hair growth supplements.
