I have paranoid schizophrenia. I am on medicine aripmt20 mg and daxid 50 mg. May I take bryonia ayurvedic medicine along with it for better functioning or there are other preparations in ayurveda to help me in my case? I need an add on alternate therapy along with allopathic medicines to function better in my daily life?

Sir, you need psychotherapy/counseling to improve your life. There is no doubt that this disease is debilitating but you must persevere not only with the medication but also with counseling. Ayurveda has no definite medication for schizophrenia that I know of. The counseling instead gives you an avenue to work with your emotional issues and you will develop skills in coping with the everyday challenges that life throws at you. I hope your visits to the psychiatrist were regular and the medication has been frequently reviewed. You need to be occupied, and fit into a routine of interesting activities every day. Yoga and meditation is also necessary to train your brain to be disciplined. Exercise always plays a stabilizing role and is the most holistic medicine besides. Since the paranoid mind is regularly perturbed by unreal fears, a reality check through counseling will help you discern fact from fiction. Your socializing and maintaining steady relations is the hallmark of a good recovery program. If I am to assume that there were no relapses during this treatment, then that is a good sign too. This means that your condition has remained stable all of these years! now go to the next level along with therapy and you can look forward to a more functional and productive lifestyle.

I would strictly advise you to only take medicines which have been given by your psychiatrist, that is arip mt 20 mg and daxid 50 mg. Do not take any ayurvedic supplements alongwith the medicines. You can take seacod liver omega 3 capsules on regular basis, they are fine, other than this, I will not advise you for anything else.
