I am sorry to hear about your concern but will be happy to assist you. Caustic injuries of the eye usually occur accidentally and can result in minor eye irritations to total loss of vision. All chemical exposures to the eye require immediate decontamination by copious irrigation with an aqueous solution for at least 15-30 minutes up to two hours in single cases of massive exposure. Let's connect over a call so that we can discuss your concern in details and make a suitable treatment plan for you.

Hello. It was an unfortunate event that she had to go through. Chemical injuries of any form can be highly dangerous to the eyes, caustic injuries being the most serious ones. Immediate washing of the affected part (eye and neck) for a long time (20-30 mins) with at least around 1.5-2 litres under running tap water is highly recommended. An eye doctor needs to access the extent of damage to the cornea (most crucial part for vision). The eyes might be needing simple treatment with cmc drops in case of minor injuries or may require aggressive treatment in the form of eye drops, tablets and surgery in more serious cases. Caustic soda is known to cause injury in 3 phases-early, intermediate and late. Even if initially the eyes may be looking completely normal from outside, the caustic soda may continue to cause damage in the other 2 phases later which can have serious long term implications. It is highly advisable to consult an eye doctor (offline or online) at the earliest and not take it lightly. You can provide good quality photographs of the affected eye and seek online help too. As for the skin lesions, you can use simple burnol cream, it will slowly heal on its own if it is superficial. Again one has to look at the extent and depth of lesion to advise further. If it is deep, one might have to consider other options in that case. You can reach me out for anytime for consultation and for further guidance about the treatment. Hope this helps. Thank you.
