Hello sir, how to overcome allergy (only dry cough-phlegm)? I have been suffering since 9 months. It has been reduced after taking medication. But still 25% is left as I feel. I eject phlegm about 25-30 times a day. It irritates me daily. Currently taking medication (montelukast sodium and levocetirizine hydrochloride) tablets. Please help.

Dear Mr. lybrate-user an allergy in simple language is an over reactive mechanism of the body's immune response. The only treatment is to avoid the allergen (the substance that is causing the allergy). Medicines like antihistamines or steroids suppress the response and therefore give temporary relief from allergic symptoms. Therefore allergy has to be managed and cannot be cured. It would be a good idea for you to consult an ent surgeon or an allergy specialist to understand your condition and learn to manage it better. Best wishes.
