I experience pain in my left knee,i do play badminton 3 a week and wheni consulted an ortho,he says the pain and swelling is caused due to calcium deposit betwn the joints.Can it be cured?

The calcium deposit cannot be taken away.By the way they are called osteophytes but your pain and swelling can be totally relieved by physiotherapy. Icing for 10 mins over the swollen joint will be of great help to you. Once the pain goes away learn the strengthening exercises to continue and wear a knee cap while playing. Apply ice on it and do strengthening exercises for hip and knee. And take glucosamine supplements

Either way it needs to be taken care by first making a correct diagnosis. For knee pain at least start doing Quadriceps exercise and avoid squatting,kneeling,cross leg sitting. Dr Kamal Bachani
