My dad was diagnosed with high blood pressure 8 years ago. He continued taking medicines until 2018. But now has stopped. Is it alright to stop them or should he start the medicine again even if he is facing no problems. Medicine name = telvas -am 40 mg.

Hi, high blood pressure is a chronic disease and keeping it under control is very important. Before stopping any medication it's abrupt to stop jus like that. First his blood pressure levels has to be constant and within normal range over a period of atleast 3 - 6 months for considering dose reduction or stoppage of medication. Also it is better to taper the dose slowly rather than abrupt stopping. Other co morbidities like diabetes, or any other issues have to be kept in consideration for stopping medications. Even though you have stopped taking medication it is important and ideal to keep your blood pressure under track to avoid sudden complications. You can share the full medical history of your father for further queries and treatment guidance through my online consultation. Thank you :-)
