I am having sensitivity in teeth and dentist said teeth scaling (cleaning) will work. But I have heard that scaling increases sensitivity instead of decreasing. Will scaling really help me? Or is there any other option? I tried toothpaste but it didn't work.

Yes scaling helps. When there are deposits on teeth, due to them gum recedes leading to exposed root surface in mouth on which you feel sensitivity. More the deposits more sensitivity you will feel after scaling, but that is going to be temporary. After scaling you need to follow instructions thoroughly, if you don't, problem can recur. Just because sensitivity might increase for a week doesn't mean that you will not get your scaling done. If you don't get scaling done then deposits will continue to increase and gums and bone will continue to recede. In some span of time your teeth will become mobile. Get your scaling done, continue using sensitivity paste (apply paste for 2-3 minutes on sensitivity area then brush), ask your Dr. for gum paint and use that, do warm salty water rinses every 2 hours for minimum 15 days all this will help.
