I had usg scan for my severe menstrual bleeding issue, there its been diagnosed with gallstones of 3-4 calculi/7 mm. I'm over weighted female of 28 years and I was planning to take paleo/intermittent fasting to reduce my weight. I consulted a gyno reg this and she asked me to continue taking medicines to stop bleeding and not to worry about this gallstone now. I'm worried what can be the best solution for this. I don't want my gallbladder getting removed. Please help!

If you don’t have pain in the upper abdomen or right upper quadrant/ don’t have bloating and excessive belching post meals, this means your gall bladder stones are not symptomatic. The chances of complications from these are less than 1% over 20 years. You can wait it out and avoid removing your gall bladder. However, if you have even one of these symptoms mentioned above, the chances of complications from gall bladder stones can increase dramatically. In this case it’s best to have your gall bladder removed. This is a simple day care procedure with minimal to no pain with advanced techniques, in the hands of a competent surgeon. As for the menstrual bleeding, please do continue with your gyneac consults and advise. It isn’t related to the gall bladder stones.
