Actually, dissolving it on your tongue is probably the most beneficial way to get the medication. The mouth has so many pores in it, that it sends the medicine to the body much quicker. The tongue is vascular (its a muscle), so things that come in contact with it can go directly into the blood stream. That is the whole concept behind lozenges. Now having said that, if the medicine you were given or prescribed is not a lozenge, then you need to swallow it according to the directions.
