I am a 44 years old male. Married with two children. I generally keep good health and I am of an average built. Mostly exercising outdoors (cardio.) sometimes, when I am unable to exercise due to work pressures or travel - I tend to gain weight. I had met with a bike accident 2 years back and had a minor ligament tear near my left knee. Due to which, I was not able to exercise for a year or so. Now, since last 1 year, I am exercising again but am not very regular and that too for 30-45 mins maximum 3-4 days a week. I eat moderately - regular home cooked meal, some times junk food. But mostly home cooked. I am into business and guess I remain stressed mentally, financially and emotionally. I have started gaining weight all over again. I am all of 170 cms and around 76 kgs. Earlier I use to maintain myself (while gymming) between 68-72 kgs. According to me - I should be under 70 kgs at my height and age. Please advice - my 45 mins of cardio and some amount of dieting are not deriving desired results. Looking forward to hearing from you soon best wishes & warm regards nishchal singh mumbai - 65 ## mobile.

No, cardio is not good for you because of your knee problem. First of all you should change your eating habits like 1. Don't take tea empty stomach. Eat something like a banana (if you are not diabetic) or any seasonal fruit or soaked almonds and a glass of water first thing in the morning (30 mins after taking your thyroid medicine). 2. Don't overeat 3. Take your breakfast every day. Don't skip it. U should eat whatever your mother or grandparent eat in bfast. I mean to say whatever is your traditional food. If punjabi eat paratha, if belongs to south then take idli/ dosa etc. 4. Have light meals every 2 hours (in addition to your breakfast, lunch n dinner) e.g. Nariyal paani, chaach, a handful of dry fruits, a handful of peanuts, seasonal fruit (eat whole fruit not juice), a cup of curd/milk etc 5. Finish your dinner at least 2 hours before going to sleep. Take simple food like rice n dal in dinner. 6. Avoid fast foods n fried foods7. Take a lot of green vegetables n fruit. 8. Drink lot of water9. Everyday preferably sleep on same time 10. Maintain active life styleeating every 2 hours increases basal metabolic rate also. If you follow this over a period of time you will see that your intake of food has decreased now about point no. 10. You should join a gym for weight training. Do it 2-3 times a week with at least 48 hours in between 2 sessions. Other days you can do cardio exercises like yoga, cycling, swimming etc. For further details on type of exercise, how to do n what to eat before n after exercise you can consult me.
