Hi, I had a minor dog scratch on 8th night. There was no bleeding. In fact the scratch was hardly visible. I had taken 4 doses of vaccine 3 years back and doctor told me that since you have previously taken vaccine, its going to be effective for 5 years and hence you can wait for 5-6 days and observe the dog. Still, I was not sure and I took rabipur vaccine on 9th night and have completed 3 doses of it (9th july, 12th july and 16th july. The dog lives in my society and I see it is still healthy. My questions are: 1. Should I stop the next dose of vaccine as I read online that if the dog is healthy for 10 days, you can stop the vaccine. 2. If I stop the vaccine now, will I be treated as a pre-vaccinated person in future if I get any kind of dog scratch/bite? 3. Does a pre-vaccinated person require booster doses of vaccine if he is scratched/bitten again by the dog? If yes then ho many doses (2/3/4/5) is required? Till how many years the vaccine is effective? Thanks, aditya.
