Dear , Sorry to hear you are suffering from such problem. The cause of your problems is Periodontitis (Pyorrhea). In this disease there is destruction of bone in the jaws which supports our teeth and thus leading to receding of gums, pain (though usually mild) or discomfort upon chewing, bleeding during brushing, foul smell from mouth, hot and cold sensitivity, loosening of teeth etc. But this destruction takes place very slowly and usually there is no severe pain, till there is minimal or no bone left, when the teeth become mobile (loose) and they are not able take the burden of forces applied on teeth during chewing foods. At this stage it is not possible to save your natural teeth and they have to be extracted. And you have to wear Dentures, which I think everybody fears. Though you haven't mentioned your age, I feel you you are in the age group late 30's to early 50's. One of the myths prevalent in our society is that losing teeth in 60's onward is normal. But, If Pyorrhea is treated in its early stage and oral hygiene is maintained properly, one will have have good strong natural teeth whole life. The effort on the part of patient required is to visit the Dentist and follow the instructions. Regarding treatment, it will depend on the stage of Pyorrhea. Clinical Examination and X-Rays are required to ascertain the treatment plan, especially how much bone is remaining. I would suggest that you visit a Periodontist (Gums and Pyorrhea specialist) as soon as possible. I hope that not much bone loss has taken place. So that most of your natural teeth can be saved. I request you to please make it sure that besides you, the other members of your family as well as your relatives and friends also visit a dentist every 6 months. If the dentist says your mouth is totally healthy, you will feel good. But if any signs of Caries ( Commonly termed as Keeda lagna), or Pyorrhea it can be arrested at this reversible, stage only. One more thing that you may feel that your problem is sorted and now you don't need further treatment, but that is not complete treatment and the infection has to be eradicated from the bone, otherwise the problem is will as good as before or even more. And make it sure to be treated by a Periodontist. Till the Good Luck and God Bless.Â

Hi Gum disease and periodontitis (Pyorrhoea) usually happen due to inadequate home care and infrequent professional maintenance and cleaning, which allow buildup of plaque and calculus (tartar) deposits on teeth. These deposits harbour bacteria that secrete various toxins that cause gum disease, and bad breath. Some systemic diseases might also facilitate or aggravate or hasten the progression of the gum problem. Hence, I think what you need is a professional dental visit at the earliest to assess the condition of your teeth, so a diagnosis maybe made and appropriate measures instituted to protect your teeth and gums from further, irreversible damage. Thanks.Â

The primary reason for the problem could be the deposits around your teeth which start from being colourless and soft then turn hard and yellow green or black in colour. In short you could be suffering from gingivitis or periodontitis. Kindly contact your dentist to at least get your teeth cleaned initially and then if required your dentist might consult a periodontist to provide a proper treatment plan.Â

Dear, There has to be a cause for your gums receeding - aggressive brushing, clenching habit, calculus (tartar) deposits, traumatic bite or irregular teeth to name the most common. It will be prudent to reach a possible cause of your problem on a clinical examination and then treat the cause. Further loss of the same would be stopped. Once it becomes stable - that is there is no further recession of your gums we can think of ways to get them back up to the levels possible.Â
