I twisted and sprained my ankle 6 months ago. My ankle was swollen for about a week and then I started feeling pain in my lower back. 2 months later got an MRI done and was diagnosed with disc bulge in L4-L5-S1. My lower back does not hurt anymore (just a little bit occasionally). However about a month ago I started feeling pain in my lower leg (in the region above the ankle) and numbness and tingling in the heel. My chiropractor said lower leg pain is not from the pinched nerve it could from the sprained ankle. I don't have pain in my thigh or anywhere else in the leg except the high ankle region. The pain increases with walking or standing. Pain is in the outer leg. Even when I touch that region I feel tingling in the heel. Sometime only the leg hurts and sometimes just the back and sometimes both. Ankle specialist Orthopedic took xray but said nothing is wrong and recommended physical therapy. Could this be from the ankle sprain (tissue or ligament tear) or pinched nerve in low back?.
