Hi, I am 20 years old and diagnosed with clinical depression and generalized anxiety disorder. I am taking escnx 10 mg and zapiz 0.25 mg for the last two months. I want to know as to how I can phase out these medicines safely and if I should expect any withdrawal effects. Additionally how may I manage my illness in the absence of these medicines?

Hello lybrate-user, hope you are doing well. You will probably need to continue escitalopram for a few more months. Zapiz may be tapered off by your doctor in the next few weeks. Do not stop these meds abruptly. The doc who prescribed them to you will help you slowly wean off, please do not try to do this by yourself. In the mean time, you need to put your lifestyle in place, try to exercise frequently and develop a regular sleep wake cycle. There are a lot of books that can help you understand depression and anxiety and beat them too. You can take a look at this website.
