Hi, Lybrate user, generally, women with sickle cell trait do not haveproblems from the disorder. But they can carry a lot ofurinary tract infections during pregnancy. Pregnant women with sickle cell trait can also have a kind of anemia caused by not having enough iron in their blood. If you have this type of anemia, you may need to take iron supplements. You should remain in touch of your gynaecologist. Take care.

Are you having disease or are you only carrier of disease. See there are two genes for scd. 1. If only one gene carries disease then there are not much symptoms n you will not know unless n until you go for test. Now if your husband is normal, means he is not having disease or is not carrier of scd. Then your child is safe. He/ she cannot get disease but can be carrier (50% chances). 2. But if you have disease means your both genes carry disease. But if your husband is normal (not a carrier even, then your kid can not have disease. Although he/she will be a carrier. N if your husband carrier of disease then there is possibility of your kid having this disease. N if he is also having disease (both gene carries scd), then your kid will definately have scd.
