Respiratory infections are common in children. There are grades of pneumonia ranging from mild to severe. But since pneumonia is a collective term of inflammation of the lung tissue that can be caused by a variety of microorganisms, one attack does not provide lifelong immunity, nor does it guarantee lifelong protection against pneumonitis.
