Hi, my name is shwetha I am 33 years old. I slipped on stairs last evening and I landed on left side of back, very painful on left side of the back and certain positions like while standing to sitting position, while lying down, turning towards right etc. Putting cold pack as of now. Doc has prescribed pain killers and suggested x ray if the pain still persists after 2 days. Please suggest What extra care should I take for 2 days? Should I lay down straight all the time? Is it bad to sit or move?

Sitting is not the enemy . Static laziness is. Prolonged body exposure to one single position shortens your muscle's range of movement , flexibility , and even worse - strength. Lying down is just a little better for your back while the end results are the same.

Take complete rest for 2 days lying in supine position. Continue cold packs. Apply some analgesic gel or oil on painful parts. Keep a pillow under your knees while lying supine on bed. Moving or siiting may increase your pain or discomfort.
