I am a 66 years old man who sustained bicep tear and tear shoulder muscles in my right arm a year back while playing golf. After about 5 months or so, I was generally okay and was able to use my hand with certain restrictions. Though I was also able to play golf but I am having pain in my shoulder these days. The Orthopedic surgeon said that the only way would be to operate and stitch back the tears but because of the age he was not certain whether I'd get back same strength or not. Since I am a keen golfer I would like your advise on the issue. Thanking you.

considering that you are talking about a rotator cuff tear. yes nowadays the treatment is to repair the tear. it takes a while for it to heal. the healing process depends on your fitness and many other factors. the orthopaedic surgeon will just stich back the torn muscles. the healing process will take its own time. Regaining Strength depends on the post operative excercises which you will be motivated to do. thus surgery is not the only component of your recovery. it includes a combined approach
