I wish to know Is mental problems related to heridity or in anyway connected to parents ?My nephew showed symptoms at 15years and later became a patient.in our family noone ever had any mental problems .still we have one case ..pls advise

Hi Shakeela Yes mental Illnesses are known to run in families. An individual inherits a susceptibility to a mental illness but doesn't necessarily develop the illness ie the person may or may not develop the illness. Mental Illnesses are caused by a combination of biological factors ( ex. inherited genes from parents... ), environment & psychological factors. Exact cause is not known yet. ALL THE BEST
