Hi lybrate-user. Teething does not cause diarrhoea. It might cause slightly loose stools as baby is salivating a lot during teething. Keep your child well hydrated. If your child is having watery stool than he needs to see a General Practitioner to treat different cause. Hope this is reassuring. The Face and Smile Clinic.

Loose motions are not due to teething. There must be certain food whiich is triggering the loose motions. Please keep a note of which food your baby has taken when the stools were loose. Keep noting down the pattern, then you will realise that certain foods/ certain combination of food may be upsetting the childs stomach. Also since babies tend to pick up toys, slippers etc off the floor and chew them, it can lead to loose motions. There is nothing to worry, Just be observant and you can prevent this from happening next time. Either ways, if the loose motions are occasional and not severe, then it is not a cause for too much concern. Just take precautions.
