Dear Lybrate User, You cannot take a break from a psychiatric medicine just like that. The brain circuitry gets shock n confusion when particular medicine isn't reaching it. Even if someone wants to leave a psychiatric medication it has to be done in tampering manner. Means if you take one medicine, take half of it for 1 month and then 1/4 for next 1 month. And no experiments to be done without guidance of the doctor who prescribed medication. Always hv a contact info of the doctor if possible. Anxiety have emotional triggers and to completely cure it you hv to consider therapy sessions which will help you cope up vt the issue at hand along with medication. Medication gives a stability to brain to then work on emotional issues. Divine Blessings.

Dear Sir The antidepressant medications that are prescribed have usually a course of treatment and it is recommended that they should be taken for at least 3-6 months even if you are feeling completely fine after taking them. It needs to be stopped gradually under supervision of a psychiatrist who can monitor you for a return of symptoms and taper the Medication accordingly. Please don't panic. It is expected that your symptoms will return if you stop the medication after 2-3 weeks. Please see your psychiatrist and restart the medications. Thanks.
