My son age 21, suffering schizo-effective disorder from last 2 1/2 years. The soduim valporate and risdone plus keeps him sleep and awake well, but cannot take any activities or mix with people. What should be done? Is this a disease nutrition deficiancy? Can "rasayan ayurveda help or what can help? jawahar

Schizo affective disorder is a complex illness which requires not just medications but also psychosocial inputs like family counselling, cognitive retraining, social skills training and rehabilitation. However in most places due to lack of resources one has to depend on medications. So if he is sleeping too much may be we need to taper down the dosage. I am not aware of efficacy of Ayurvedic medication in this disorder.
