I'm a 19 year old male. It's been almost 4 years since I visited a dentist and I'm ashamed about it. I feel terribly afraid to visit a dentist due to the fear of pain and needle phobia that i have. I finally found that there was something called sedative dentistry and I have learnt more about it on the internet. This gave me a little hope and looking forward to get treated. Vulnerable and urgently in need of help.

Yes there is. But its used for pedo(small childrens) in most of the cases or in case of a surgical procedure in case of adults. For small procedures like simple root canal treatments or simple extractions there is no need for sedation.Visit your dentist he will explain you the procedure and will guide you to over come your fear. Nowadays due to advance technology its not painful as it was years back. You make take diazipam before treatment . It will help you to over come your anxiety.
