Dear doctor, I am having a 180 days old baby boy, he is a premature baby while born. One of his testis is undescended at the time of birth and ultra sound scan says that the undescended testis may be a hypoplastic (during 2 month scan). Is it means absence of one testis, no possibility to grow it? Kindly advice us because we are very much worry for that of any surgery to be done. Thanking you in advance.

Undescended testis occur with greater frequency in premature babies. This is serious concern and I would suggest you to see a urologist at the earliest. Thanks.

A 6 month old baby can wait upto one year for surgical correction. The undecended testis needs to be brought down whatever may be its condition and they recover in most cases.

Hello- if a testicle has not descended on its own by the time a baby is 6 months old, he should be checked by a pediatric specialist and have treatment if the condition is confirmed. This usually involves surgically repositioning the testicle into the scrotum.
