Hello I want to ask a question about my sis in law she is 41 yesterday she had a very heavy bleeding. They went to doctor and she examined her n ask for USG Pelvis Test. The result says uterus is retroverted in size, measures 8.5x5.7x4. 5 cm and shows partial dehiscence of lower part of body into vagina suggestive of prolapse uterus. Endometrial echo-complex is thickened, thickness measures 16. 8 mm and shows some cystic changes. Doctor had a doubt that she might have a uterus cancer. Please suggest n tell what to do we have already given a sample for biopsy also. Please tell me is this problem curable she will be alright.

Thickened endometrium and heavy bleeding can be caused due to some non cancerous condition as well as endometrial (uterine) cancer. But yes definitely we need to rule out cancer before we treat her. You need to wait for the biopsy report of the samples taken by your doctor. If malignancy is detected it would be preferable to do the treatment by gyn oncologist. Uterine cancer is treated surgically and the further treatment (radiotherapy /chemotherapy) is decided based on the findings of surgery. Uterine cancer if treated properly and especially if it is a early stage cancer the chances of getting cured are high. Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any queries regarding the same.
