I had irregular periods before, and during that time doctor used to give me duphaston 10 mg tablet to get the periods. Now my periods become regular and I am one week pregnant now and doctor gave me duphaston 10 mg again. I am little confused now since same tablet given to get the periods and now during pregnancy. Is it safe to take this tablet.

Hello Duphaston contains synthetic sex hormone called progesterone. It has wide usage in irregular menses as well as in pregnancy. Basically function of this hormone is to keep uterine lining healthy and thickened. In irregular menses, it thickens uterus lining so that sufficient uterus bed should be there to shed as menstrual blood during menses. In pregnancy, it keeps uterine lining healthy and strong for growth of fetus. So do not worry, take this medicine as your doctor is prescribing.
