Dear lybrateuser, - You have to have a strong willpower & determination to leave smoking - fix a date for quitting, you have to quit completely, cannot reduce gradually - remove all the articles like cigarettes, ashtray, lighter from the house as well as any other place where you keep them, so that it is not reachable when you have a strong urge - divert your mind in other activities like your job, watch TV, play a game, go out for a walk, talk to a friend especially when urge is there - if still urge is strong then use nicotex chewing gum as pet the directions given on it - if still difficult to leave then consult a medical professional or an NGO who can help you step by step to leave it - also have a well balanced diet & plenty of oral fluids to wash off the toxins from the body.
